Base pay is still 15,500qar plus 1,500 qar transportation allowance for newbies, regardless of experience.
18 contact hours, but many on more.
A teacher I know there says most of their time is spent doing admin.
Academic calendar can be downloaded from the university's website. |

Are hours over 18 compensated at a fair rate?

is that package similar to HCT?
If so 18 contact hours is way more reasonable than 25!! |

Like most ME employers, it varies and it is the luck of what is available in their inventory. There is some on-campus housing, which TEFLers rarely get into... the rest is spread about necessitating a commute and probably the purchase of a car.
Based on posts here over the past few years, it seems be "compounds" of sorts, though probably without a guarded gate... just a bunch of apt buildings with a surrounding wall... and perhaps a swimming pool. Flats are furnished and many of the teachers will complain about building quality, water pressure, ugly furniture, cleanliness of the pool, or slow maintenance ... the usual whinges.

Hard to say... you don't know for sure what you would be getting in the UAE either. Now that HCT has started using a housing allowance rather than providing an unfurnished flat, you would get to decide how much of your allowance you want to invest in a flat. And there is variance between the branch locations. At this time we don't really know any numbers...
Generally speaking, the living standards are probably pretty close...
