I would also like to add that this happened in Lviv, which is why it was even more surprising for me. I visited Kiev twice with no problems. Luckily it was my American card and I'm 100% covered for fraud. Thank god.

Ha ha! Dunno why it being a different city would make anyone feel better. Fraud is a pain, where ever it occurs. And it is more likely to happen in the Ukraine than anywhere else in Europe. Whether Kiev or Lvov, makes no odds.

Passing through Kiev for the long weekend.

Two questions:

(i) Is there much to do in Kiev in terms of nightclubs and bars in light of the recent protests?

(ii) Looking at making a day trip to Zhitomir. I'm aware that you can get busses at the local station. However, I notice if I'm lucky I'll have to get a bus that takes about 1 hr and 40 mnts.

Is there the option of mini busses?

Thank you,
Dude

There's a big nightclub in Kyiv called the Maidan. The dirge they play there is my favorite song. Not much dancing, though.
