If there's one thing I love it's a bargain. One of the best things about Saudi Arabia - indeed, the very thing that makes it a tolerable place to live - is the astoundingly cheap stuff compared to what I'm used to. Examples:
*Kabsa - 12 riyals.
Yeah okay, kabsa gets old quickly, but by golly I did enjoys me some kabsa/shawaya for lunch.
*Indian/Pakistani curries and buriyani - 12 riyals or less
Again, good quality, massive portions and laughably cheap.
*Very good quality Arabic coffee. Can't remember how much per kilo but it was negligible.
*Taxis
What about Doha? Very cheap and good quality Indian food is ubiquitous in Dubai, so it's safe to assume it is in Doha too, right? Please note that I have already looked at numbeo.com but it's not very specific or interesting to read. Your anecdotal evidence please. |

Haven't been to Doha for a while but the downtown Sofitel had a place called Desman's opposite, looked like a dump but did a blinding curry. There was also a place called Welcome, which delivered and it's round there too. Ask someone who's been there a while. Kebabs were always cheap! |

Petrol and I think that's about it. Pretty much everything else seems more expensive than in the UK. |
