Does anyone know anything about or has had experience teaching in Cambodia? Was it a good or bad experience and would you recommend it? I am 60 y.o. and have been told there are no age restrictions there.

Teaching is a challenging job with many unique frustrations, but the rewards of teaching are numerable. Some of the many benefits include the following.

Uh, your response has zero relevance to the OP's question about teaching in Cambodia.

I'll second that. This poster seems to find it amusing to scatter totally irrelevant posts through a number of unrelated threads.

Just a quick response as I'm short of time at the moment.

First, 90% or more teaching jobs are in Phnom Penh, the capital city. So, really you're looking at teaching and living in PP.

Good:

- tropical weather - sunny and hot

- nice people

- ancient culture

- easy visas

- good supermarkets

- lively nightlife and restaurants

Bad:

- tropical weather - monsoons and floods in the rainy seaon, sweltering in the hot season

- most work is teaching kids in poorly managed "international" schools

- most work is paid hourly (and there are a LOT of unpaid holidays) at low rates ($10/hr)

- Cambodia is still quite undeveloped, especially in terms of transportation and medical care

- Also, there's still a lot of poverty, corruption and crime/scams

Let me know if you have more questions.
