Hi, I'm fairly desperate for work so this would be nice. If they chain you up between classes or rip your flesh each morning, I'd probably give it a miss.

If they're into something awful, will you let me know? Or if they steal your pay?

Many many thanks

I dont know how helpful this will be but I worked with two teachers who used to live and work in Qiqihar around 12 years ago.

They said the place was dirt cheap, full of Russian hookers and can be about -40Celsius in the winter. Also, the whole city is quite drab and looks depressing.

THANKs especially for making me laugh.

I'll be at the uni, so until I hear that they drink their ft's blood each morning I think it's fine. Now I just hope they send the contract today like they said they would.

But I still need info about the uni, folks! Someone wrote not long ago about a school up north that 'almost kept its teachers prisoners.'

but now at least i'm cheered up. (the part of dongying where I taught 10 yrs ago was absooutely bizarre. They had the ft's housing next to the love street.) etc.

I looked it up on Wikipedia, it's a government-award-winning university. Don't know what that means as far as your situation, but........

In my experience, the schools in the least hospitable environs tend to treat their teachers pretty well.

Qiqihar is nice in the summer and has a big park/zoo/lake area which is very serene. There's also a bird park nearby the city (30ks or so) where the birds (can't remember their name) migrate to in summer to feed in the waterways and reeds. Sorry can't help you with the Uni info but i visited that city in summer and liked it although there's no way I could handle those -40 temps in the winter. I visited several good restaurants too, one near the train station.

I'm very sorry to put you to this trouble, to be so frantic, & then this.

They wanted to contract scans by 10 am yesterday. At 9:58 am they emailed me, so sorry, new rule, etc.

I have a new job, and am again asking. Thanks again.

Shocked Exclamation Arrow Confused Arrow Laughing Arrow Cool

That sounds like one helluva place. Perhaps on par with Ruili on the Myanmar-China border.

Warm regards,
