So I'll be coming to the Valpo area at the end of November to hunt for ESL jobs. I know I'm not coming during prime hiring season, so I'm expecting that I might not find a job immediately--however, I have a University degree, the CELTA, and prior teaching experience.

All that being said, I do have a lot of questions. What's the ESL job market like in Valparaiso/Vina del Mar currently? Which language schools are there? Are there any work opportunities for ESL teachers at Valparaiso University?

Hey hows it going,

I live here in Valpo and teach here in Valparaiso and in Viña. Valparaiso only has a few institutes to choose from but Viña has a lot. Berlitz, Wall Street, Norteamericano, Britanico, KOE also you can try all of the small colleges like Duoc UC, Inacap, Santo Tomas...I am going to admit that first the money is not good here.

In most of the institutes the most you will make is around 4.500 the hour. Wall Street is 2.500...Also everything here is pretty slow...

Also make sure you go to la extranjeria in Valparaiso and get your permiso de trabajo!

Good luck, be patient , enjoy the city!
