Well that's great...but you were also questioning whether Beijing was safe enough for you after receiving an offer. I'm all for helping people but the rest of your post makes it seem like you don't quite get it either. I'm done harping on BLWB, I just think his shtick is pretty tired and anyone turned off by China based on his complaints alone are doing themselves a disservice.

He helped me. Knowing now how hard it is. I also cancelled my plans for China. I was going to move to Beijing. But now I'm beginning to consider Thailand, maybe Taiwan...

really, bro? really? you altered your life plans based on one bro's anecdote?
you realize there are around 100,000 ft's happily (or sometimes not so
happily) plugging away here? can't be all that bad.

okay, so china ain't for you. you don't think you can deal with TIC.

well, good lucky in thailand where the forumses are full of TIT complaints.
same-same but different. paperwork is mucho easier in thailand, but harder
to save money. more hours and more requirements. corruption is much
worse and very blatently blatent. oh yeah, and those bros can be seriously
violent, much more liable to finish a fight with guns or knives.

It's worth remembering that forums are very much like newspapers.

The front pages are full of 'bad news' stories - that's what sells newspapers.

Good news rarely makes the headlines. Smile

You really do have a big problem understanding the way Chinese officialdom works. Official statements? Legally ordered? You are going a little over the top with this.
When they started cracking down on illegals, they acted like they were legally ordered with good legal conduct. So you can expect more legal upright conduct and presenting all the loopholes exactly how they are.

I have to say I agree with Bruce. First he's told he needs a record check. Then he has to wait two weeks before he's told he needs it certified at the consulate. Maybe it's not the way things are done in China. But, it really isn't going to kill them to tell him he needs it certified at the consulate at the same time that he was told he needed the record itself. The second part SOUNDS like something the EXPAT bureau would know off hand the same time they said they needed a record check.

Which leads to another possible conclusion. Is it possible that perhaps they don't ask for these things all at the same time because it takes a couple weeks or so to process every individual thing? Even if Bruce did provide everything he needed all at once. He'd probably still have to wait so long anyway because it takes so many weeks now just to process each and every individual piece of paper.

Or would it be possible that everything they did was only a test? Since they are strict now, they might do things this way just to see how comitted you are. They may think that if you are truly comitted, you will wait for an extended long period of time.

No No! Not the 'hua! Anything but that! Anything but the 'hua!

Shocked

Isn't living in Panzhihua considered to be one of the circles of Dante's Inferno?

Choubrofu!

Haha! See what I did there?

Very Happy

Warm regards,
