For people who have their own apartment/hotel room, this isn't a problem but I will be in a guesthouse with 3 more people in the same room. It is foreign currency so I can't deposit it in a bank and I don't want to exchange all of it into yen. So are there safe deposit boxes or other means to stash small items in Tokyo? |

I see your problem.
Pretty much every train station has automated luggage lockers you can rent, but they're not cheap.
If it's just a couple of nights then something like a money belt might be your best bet. |

Yeah, looks like I'll have to keep the money with me at all times, in a money belt. |

The luggage lockers go as low as 200 yen a day. That seems pretty cheap to me....😢 |

I don't mind the 200 yen daily rate but having to go to the locker everyday to feed it sounds like a hassle. But it is an option. |

Surely everyone who stays there will have the same problem. Ask at the guesthouse if they have a safety box where you can leave it. If not, they will likely know your best option for a locker. |

I don't think you have to go to the locker every day. It should just add on the next day's amount after 24 hours have passed. That's why you see some lockers that say like 1200 yen or something because the person hasn't picked up their stuff in a few days. |

Is there a service that would accomodate something bigger, like a suitcase? |

Some of the lockers at main stations are larger, but more expensive (Â¥400-800). |
