Hi All,
Wondering if anyone has a line on good places to find Western magazines (specifically the Economist and if we're talking pipedream stuff, Monocle) in HCMC?
Been to a fair few bookshops in D1 and just found the standard Viet versions of western mags and English versions of Vietnamese stuff but not the meaty middle of the Venn diagram. Rather than continue to look in the wrong places I thought I'd ask - I know I could probably subscribe or get it online somehow but if there's a way of avoiding that I'd prefer it.
I'm in HCM, but anyone from Hanoi who knows where to go there - please do reply for anyone searching there.
Cheers. |

Hi mockingyou,
If you go down to the Pham, you often can find a few hawkers selling Western magazines. The only magazine I buy is Time, but there's a good chance they might have the Economist as well [I think I have seen it, but I've never bought it so please don't quote me on that]. Quite often the hawkers are using bicycles. Chi's Cafe is as good as spot as any to find them. I'd just get a table one afternoon facing the street and there's an excellent chance a magazine seller will turn up after not too long. |

As Tigerstyleone said... if you have a tablet, just look for the app of your favorite magazine. Most of the biggest ones all have digital versions now, and you can flip through them like you would a real magazine. It's the way to go if you want to stay subscribed to your favorite periodicals. |
