Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of dealing with this London based agency?

They are recruiting female teachers for the KSA and I wondered if they were reliable.

The general consensus seems to be that direct hire is best.

Direct hire is best, if you can find a direct hire job. The place I worked at, which was really a nice place for the KSA, had one direct hire and they hadn't directly hired someone in five years.

I've had dealings with them. Bunch of salesman types mainly concerned on getting you to sign then go. Although some can be very frank and honest if you ask the right questions and you know what your talking about.

Ask them which contracting company they are trying to sign you up with and then do some research from there.

if it's the same as Global Recruitment Solutions and/or you are dealing with someone called A M then you have the same recruiter that I did.

All recruiters are salespeople. They will tell you absolutely anything because once you sign on the dotted line, they get their cash and will never ever contact you again (unless they want you to recruit others or apply for another job). You could be sold into slavery and it's no skin off their nose.

Best not to deal with them over the phone. Do it all by email so you have a record. They'll tell you it's much more convenient to phone. What they mean is, it's much more convenient to lie to your face about something you say they said on the phone.

Find out who the contractor contact is and ask them the relevant questions you have, again, by email.

I worked through TLTP to find a position with TQ Education and Training. Honestly, if I hadn't gone through TLTP, I would not even have considered applying directly to TQ itself because of their apparently stringent requirements on experience.

It's true that recruiters are salespeople trying to get you to sign on the line so they can get their cash... but that's their business. Everyone must make their money, and that's how they make theirs. Nothing wrong with it. You must simply find out for yourself what you're getting into.

The position with TQ came only five weeks after I had first contacted them. At first they were applying me to AETG, about which a great deal has been written on this website.

Anyway, the TQ job will start within two weeks probably. I just got my visa and now I'm having my passport endorsed. So I'm not in KSA yet, and have no experience of the job. However, I think it will be a pretty good deal on the whole for Saudi. TQ is a subsidiary of Pearson, the textbook publisher. It's a respectable multinational corporation, so I know they're not going to be playing shenanigans with salary, benefits, flights, etc.

I'd say on the whole TLTP is a respectable outfit. Just be persistent with them. Call them even if they're not calling you, just to check up on how your resume is doing with their clients.

You can take my advice with as many grains of salt as you wish, but this is all that I have to share. I hope it helps.

She wasn't asking about whether she could get a job with TQ, she was asking about the recruiter, TLTP. My advice is still valid and sound. Since the quality of the job the recruiter gets for you is a reflection on the recruiter, discussing what TQ offers me is entirely relevant.

In any case, it is at least true that TQ had been hiring women for positions at their female school in Medina as of three weeks ago. Whether they still are, I do not know.

VS, you might recall, "Any single women working in Makkah/Madinah?" (http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=94404), in which a non-Muslim inquired about living in Madinah. I believe she'd been recruited by TLTP for TQ. Anyway, parts of Madinah are off-limits to non-Muslims.

As I recall, she was told that she could basically only travel between her job and housing... with a possible trip to a supermarket on the edge of town now and then? That seems unacceptably limited to me...
