Considering an offer to teach in Jeddah for KSAU-HS. I have not been able to find out directly much info on housing or work schedule.
Does anyone have any idea what type of accomodation is available?
What about the work day, and conditions?
BTW. It is a direct hire position, although a staffing agency is used to hire new employees, MD Talent Search. Recruiter details do not seem to be up to date or accurate on living and working for this uni.
Pay is on the low side... BA starts out at only 45K a year and MA only gets you up to 65K. Not bad if the hours are on the low side and the students are decent. Holidays are great, 2 months off in the summer, paid. |

That's the LOW side these days? Yikes, do you have to pay for your housing out of that? If not, that seems pretty high for a low side.

I was thinking the same thing John. I'd say if that was base salary before experience added then not so shabby, but even for a person with no experience or a first job, I would say that's a decent salary. |

Maybe it is an average salary for a university job, but very low considering places like Aramco and Raytheon pay almost double that amount.
On the bright side, the holidays are good and the students are probably better than military cadets in a social works program that are enrolled in an English program with no desire to learn. |

Dear BajaLaJaula,
Aramco jobs - direct hire, not recruiters or contractors - are rare indeed, and I would be very surprised to learn that Raytheon pays close to $90,000 a year for a BA and almost $130,000 a year for an MA.
As for the students, well, I believe Raytheon does teach mostly, if not all, military, and from what I've heard from people who taught there (in Jeddah, but also SALTS), they're pretty "challenging."
Regards,
John |
