| You'll have to wait until your original Foreign Residence Permit expires before you can apply for a new Z visa for another job. Your employer needs your passport to fully cancel your FRP at the local PSB before you leave the country. I'm unsure whether he can have it cancelled without your passport after you leave. I doubt your previous employer will have it transferred along with your Foreign Experts Certificate after what you did. Anyway, you'd have to be present in China and submit your passport in order for him to have it done. Why not check out Taiwan, South Korea, or Japan for an EFL teaching position. The standard of living and salaries are much higher there. |

…especially during those Dance Hall Days but lately everybody's been workin' for the weekend. Sometimes when I get out though I feel like a real Juke Box Hero, but I ditched that whole scene, I tell ya I really had to Beat It. It all was a real Thriller though until Billie Jean came along.
Whatever anybody tells ya, the kid is not my son.
Whip it! Whip it good!

As an update to the first post on this topic. I must confess I'm the artist formerly know as "wuxi" I was banned from this forum and had to change my login name to "stinkytofu".
To make a long story short I did complete my "midnight runner in China" successfully 4 years ago and it was everything I thought it would be. It marked a major milestone in my life, standing up against the tyranny of corporate China and winning. I don't know how much money my former school lost because of me but I'm guessing it was a lot.
Actually, my midnight runner started at 4am, its a good time to leave town while the school owners are enjoying their REM sleep. I was ripped off for the last time by taxi driver taking me to the train station who demanded 3 times the going rate, I didn't care at that point. At 11am I arrived safely at Pudong Airport where I called my school and informed them I was sick and would not be coming in to teach that day. My flight left at 7:30pm so I had a long wait at Pudong airport but hanging out at airports is something I rather enjoy, I'm not sure why. About a week after I arrived home I received an email from my former school asking why I left? I never replied to that message because 90% of problems in any ESL school are always caused by management, or lack of it. In other words, they won't understand. So if your thinking of doing a runner I would not wait long to make that decision. Happiness is just an airport away.
The End

I made my great escape in broad daylight, I didn't care if they saw me or not (they didn't). Management had told the teachers in no uncertain terms that they were going to violate the terms of the contract.
I got an e-mail from the FAO saying that he couldn't understand why I left. I never replied. They blacklisted me. I appealed and won.
I know what you mean about standing up to them, stinkytofu, especially since I came out the victor.
The only thing I'm wondering about is what might have happened if I had told them that since they were breaking our agreement I was going to leave. If anything like that happens again, I'm going to do it. |

Nice +1. Did you have to move to another province to find a new job? |

| When I returned, I went to another province and was told (when the school applied for the resident permit) that I had been blacklisted. I appealed and prevailed. |

How do you appeal being blacklisted from China? |

| I told my current employer what happened and they told the powers that be. The current employer contacted the school that I left and while they didn't admit that they broke the contract, they did concede that there was a dispute. |

I did a runner in Guangzhou in early December 2012. The employer was (*shockingly*) unethical and after trying to part amicably, she refused to grant me my release . I was even naive enough to hire a lawyer who wrote up a complaint to the labor ministry. Nothing happened.
I'm planning on going back in January, is there any way to find out ahead of time if you've been blacklisted? Thanks. |

So the current employer had enough guangxi to override the last employer's reasons presented to the PSB? |

Do you mean a legal appeal or you just chatted with the current employer who used their connections to get it dropped? Thanks. |

| After the employer found out I was blacklisted, the vice president and I met in his office. I told him what happened. After that I don't know what he did, but a week later I got an e-mail from the FAO telling me that my passport with my new resident permit was in her office for me to pick up. |
