Hi Everybody, it's my first post. I am planning to get a job in China and begin my adventure in the summer. Besides the job board here in the cafe, could anyone recommend other good sites to post resumes and get job ads, or direct me to the link if it's already been discussed before? Much appreciated.

I've found seriousteachers.com a good place to list.
A little effort to scan your docs, but once loaded it's cool*.
Sure it's full of recruiter ads, but there's enough good responses generally.
Listing is free to teachers and searchable if you have a particular city in mind.
*tape over any personal ID (numbers/dates) info before scanning.

Another recent thread dealt with the pounding the pavements technique which is cold calling (by email) schools that look interesting.
Problem is that over Spring Break there is almost zero likelihood of the FAO being manned and even getting your message read, let alone answered.
Happy to be PMd.

OP,

Keep in mind that the majority of UNI's in Chiner are NOT using those services (mainly cuz they gotta pay $$). There will be a few Uni's that advertise on these sites that are NOT recruiters (such as myself).

So if that's the job ur lookn for...it's possible some recruiters will be workn 4 the uni's and NOT trying to stick it to ya....but i'm not too optimistic bout that.

Another option is to try an expensive and trustworthy recruiter that has tons of offers....I only can think of one, Angies Esl (I'm not affiliated with them! haha).
They are good and real! Cuz they charge the schools big money.

That's how I first came into chiner! GL!

Oh look...another link.

Color me surprised.

EDIT:
Please...somebody go ahead and tell me what it's supposed to mean...

suchandsuchschool 40%
randomrecruiter 30%

Just like any 'information' on that site and other sites owned by the same guy the numbers have zero meaning. Any clown can make a site with random numbers and claim they are true. Even on the off chance that the numbers are accurate they are still meaningless. Who cares what a school pays a recruiter? If a teacher likes a contract then what else is there?

I've spoken to the folks at Horizon (listed on the CFTU website). It doesn't charge for placement. It WILL put you in touch with someone at the school that you qualify for.

I can see why Horizon might be in somebody's cross hairs. It won't consider anyone who doesn't meet the its clients' criteria.

I wish the shills' posts would be taken down.

I don't think anybody who makes referrals to Chinese schools is going to be honest enough to say they collect a fee Mr. Powell. I once talked to someone at Footprints and asked how to go about finding a solid school that pays a decent salary. and they sent me a list of seven schools. I found out months later they were getting 1,000 yuan referral fee payments from all seven of the schools.

Really, How would you know if Horizons was or wasn't doing the same thing?

You know nothing about Horizon.

Signing off on this topic too. I suggest everyone else sign off. It's Astroturf City.
