if you are serious about coming do a CELTA for a month and then do a PGDE in English for a year.
That will a) potentially get you a place on the NET scheme and b) open many more doors for international schools.
Seriously though? I wouldn't bother.....many nicer cities to go to. |

Did you get onto NET with only an online TEFL? |
Yes, I did.
120hrs of e-mailing as you put it. I checked the course with the EdB before signing up for it and it was one that they accepted. |
Which TEFL course did you do? I'm just curious as I have an online TEFL and I'd like to apply to NET |
I emailed the EdB about online courses, just to check. I'm doing a course through the same place - teflonline.com. Their answer....
"Thank you for your interest in our NET Scheme.
Pleae kindly note that purely online course is not acceptable as a teaching practicum component is required. For further details regarding our requirement on TEFL/TESL certificate or diploma qualification, please refer to the following links:

I'm not saying that you didn't get onto the course with that TEFL cert, just that it may be more difficult / impossible to do so now, according to the NET team. Don't want other people applying under false hopes. |

Bummer!
www.teflonline.com actually offers a guided teaching practicum. It's not offered on their website so you have to call them to register. You need to have a school, mentor and a qualified teacher to observe. It equates to a 40 hour certificate that the EdB accepts. |
