Dear fat_chris,

" . . . and I have a feeling this thread won't be scot47 free before too long."

A possibility I view with Dred (though the origin of the phrase has nothing to do with that case.) Very Happy

Regards,
John

Here's one I like to use in class:

In English, we have the words "to," "two," and "too." So, there are three __________ in English." (Fill in the blank)

(and no - 2's won't work, either.) Very Happy

Oh, and I like this sentence, too.

It's true that that that that that that that refers to that is not the same that that that refers to this.

Regards,
John

Exclamation

I was going to guess Dred Scott but I thought that that (and not that that that you referred to previously) was too obvious so I passed on it.

And do it while you are having lunch with Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

If you were a baseball player in a game right now, then I would say that there are two balls, two strikes and two outs with the score tied two to two. There is a runner on second and we are in the top of the second. The second batter in the lineup is up to bat.

Warm regards,
fat_chris

Translating the Untranslatable:

"Linguist Christopher J. Moore has made a career of searching out some of the world's most "untranslatable" expressions — words from around the globe that defy an easy translation into English. Moore shares a few of his linguistic favorites from his new book In Other Words: A Language Lover's Guide to the Most Intriguing Words Around the World with Renee Montagne."

Oh! That title is a bit of a tongue-twister!

Or maybe not…

Cool

I always post whilst wearing a tutu. That's why my prose just leaps off the page, or screen, and simply soars!

Best wishes
