I signed a contract 2 weeks ago and was told that I would be hearing from the recruiters visa person, but I haven't and I'm getting kind of nervous. I'd like to get started on the process, but want to make sure I'm doing the right things. How long does it usually take to hear about visas from the recruiter? I emailed the person who has been working with me and asked him, he said not to worry and that it just takes time, but gave no idea of what kind of time frame I'm looking at, just to hear from the guy about how basic visa info. Should I be worried or is this normal? I'd really appreciate any info/advice you have!

It's very normal. Try to not read into things and take it personal. It's just how they do "business". Think of it this way: It's a great way to test yourself; if you can handle this small amount of BS, you should be able to handle it more when you get over to KSA - the BS will be much more intense. I spent 72 days in a hotel waiting for all my paperwork to get though and I was/am a direct hire.

This is normal; it can take from 2-3 weeks for the request to be processed at their end. A little patience goes a long way.

Thanks, it makes me feel a lot better to know that this is normal. Would you recommend starting of medical and all that goes along with the visa before getting the visa info from the recruiter? I'd like this process to go as quickly as possible, but also don't want to waste money.

It will certainly save you time if you start the process at your end. A couple of threads you might want to look at:

Nomad is right about getting things together yourself. Although you'd think those involved with visa processing would be more organized, they usually aren't, and then of course the Saudi entities involved just compound this. Being in Saudi involves a good deal of self reliance, so best to start along those lines at the outset.
