I'm not trying to stir up another political sh1t-storm on here but I came across this site and thought some of you would be interested. It's a Geocities site so you'll need to use an anonymizer, anonymouse.ws is a good one.

http://geocities.com/tellbushtheworldsaysno/

Their sample message to Bush:

Quote:
Dear Mr Bush,

it was Hermann Goering, a Nazi planner who once famously said "Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders, that is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country."

This quotation I suppose could be equally applied to your regime as that is what has happened. Those who have opposed your stance on not only the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq, but also the manner in which you have conducted your so called "war on terrorism" have been branded as "against us", "unamerican", "unpatriotic" and so on. But Mr Bush we know that is not true don't we?

For, you see we the people of the world know that it is a pretence that you have waged your so called "war on terrorism" to fight those who seek to do harm to our "freedom and democratic loving peoples" as your regime has done much damage to those who really seek real freedom and democracy.

Your regime has implemented draconian policies such as the patriot act, and sought to create free speech zones where on some occasions people are criminalised. This is not freedom and democracy in action. Your regime has been heavily influenced by the Project for the New American Century group, a right wing fundamentalist group far more dangerous than any terrorist organisation when you consider that the United States has the ability to wipe many countries off the face of the earth with its Weapons of Mass Destruction.

And speaking of weapons of mass destruction Mr Bush, why did you not allow the weapons inspections teams from the United Nations to complete their tasks rather than rush into war only to find there were none to be found? Mr Bush, your foreign policy has been a disaster, many countries previously allied to the United States no longer view your presidency as one which they can be associated with; you have tore up international treaties, acted with disregard to those who have tried to warn about environmental dangers to our planet and completely ignored the international community with regard to invading and occupying Iraq illegaly.

Mr Bush, I sincerely hope your presidency ends after the upcoming elections, as that would most certainly make the world a better and safer place to live.

regards

Hi, cimarch --

Are you familiar with Democrats Abroad? There are groups all over the world now, including China. They do teleconferences with candidates and stuff, and you can get in and listen if you have four other Democrats with you, plus a speaker phone. Anyway, I know there is a chapter in Beijing, and one in Shanghai. Maybe you could start up a group in Dalian. Here, it's done through HK Democrats Abroad (you have to say you're a part of their org, because of legal restrictions on foreign political groups operating on the mainland).

Or maybe you're a Green?

No apologies needed for this Republican... I don't like Bush either. Sorry to the Dems... I am also not fond of Kerry.

Maybe this is the year I go Libertarian.

Hell, I'm not even American. I have no right to meddle in another country's politics but I figure that they've done it enough themselves. I too am not a fan of John Kerry but unfortunately he's all there is. I find it quite tragic that in the self-proclaimed 'Home of Democracy' there is such little choice. The fact that they are referring to Kerry as 'the lesser of two evils' is the most searing indictment of the system I can imagine. To think, most people don't want EITHER of them in the White House but there's nothing they can do. This election is all about getting Bush out or keeping him in, hopefully it will inspire people to look at the alternatives next time. I almost hope Nader gets a sizeable percentage, even if it means keeping Bush for another 4 years, just to show people that there ARE alternatives and they won't just be throwing away their vote or voting for the opposition.

sigh. I hate politics.

On one level, I hope Bush wins, even though I despise the man.

Americans have no real knowledgfe of living under a dictatorship anymore. The spirit that made the constitution no longer lives among the American people. Perhaps they need a reminder of why they declared independance, and how valuable democracy is. Perhaps only then will they really use the democratic apparatus that they have.

Sinclair Lewis - It cant happen here.

Read it and weep.

It seems like it can.

I am going to see if we can arrange to let foreigners vote in the upcoming election. You all know so much about how to run things, it's a shame to see all of that intelligence going to waste.

Would you? That'd be great. Very Happy

On second thoughts, how about letting the Governments of Iran and Pakistan choose instead? After all, the American Government will probably be doing it for them in the near future the way things are going...

No way. They'd all vote for God. What fun would it be to have God running things? We'd be running for the lifeboats every time it rains.

But you'd get two of every animal to play with. Very Happy Although sharing a lifeboat with elephants, tigers, lions and snakes in a storm wouldn't be much fun. Confused

I wonder if you could impeach God...

You mean you are still deluded enough to believe that power in the US is in the hands of the voting populace?
