I'm looking into applying for a uni position in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province beginning Fall semester 2014. Before I get too deep in the process, I'd like to ask if anyone has any experience AFTER July 1, 2013 in getting their invitation letter, Z visa, Residence Permit and Foreign Expert's Certificate in that city and/or province? I'm a U.S. citizen, degreed, age/experience-qualified, no CELTA or such, currently at a Hebei Province four-year uni.

Thanks in advance.

That is when the school will probably send the paperwork out either for processing by their provincial government. If you made an agreement to work for the school, the school doesn't want you to show up too early, especially if the visa has a 30 day fuse. A lot of people don't understand that even though they agree to work the job in March, the school won't send you the paperwork for you to apply for your visa early so you can play around before you arrive.

Lots of folks have nervous breakdowns and hissy fits over this. Expect your LOI to arrive sometime in August. (Yeah, I know, it's cutting it close).

Bud...I think he's asking because of the changes that may or may not have been put in place in 2013. He did not say anything about waiting for a LoI or anything else. Actually...he has said..not a lot.

OP....it may be a good idea to ask a specific question if you have one.

Okay, here goes:

1. Did anyone go through the process of applying for a Z visa in Shaanxi Province after July 1, 2013?

2. What was your experience?

3. Could you share it with us?

Better?
