Do language schools in Russia usually obtain a background check from the FBI for U.S. citizens? Specifically, does anyone know what BKC International House requires? Thanks. |

Not to my knowledge. None of my American colleagues have ever mentioned such a thing. |

I think BKC does require a background check. But it is only with the Russian police, AFAIK. Therefore you can be a mass-murdering nuclear terrorist elsewhere, but if you have no record in Russia, you'll be OK : ) |

Background checks are not required by the government unless and until you apply for the temporary residency permit (i.e. you have worked in Russia for a few years, you are married to a Russian etc). This applies to any foreigners, US or otherwise. (For those thinking of applying from Britain, I believe the sources of 'Disclosures' are either local police forces or an organisation called Disclosure Scotland. I am less certain about people from Northern Ireland, hence my not referring to the UK.) |
