Teaching non-majors can be absolute drudgery.

Last semester I had only non-majors. (I get my spring schedule on Friday, so I might get them again.) A few of the classes were not so much fun, but the ones that were enthusiastic made up for it, in my opinion. The drudgery part was teaching a slight variation of the same lesson 11 times because all of my classes only met every other week... An actual weekly class would be a nice change of pace. Confused

I have that.

My students are awesome. 100% on the ball.

I'll miss them when I leave China in summer..

I've read through these posts on this thread and must say there's some fantastic tips and ideas for teaching in them. Ideas likely not found in textbooks.

Well done and a must-read thread for newbie FT's, IMSO.

I got my schedule, and it says that while I have most of my classes every other week, I have one class that I see every week, with much higher levels and a smaller class size! That made my week. Very Happy

By the way, has anyone here had a class that's three 45-minute periods long instead of just two? My weekly class is. They're going abroad in the fall, and I guess it's supposed to be relatively intensive.
