| Teaching non-majors can be absolute drudgery. |

Last semester I had only non-majors. (I get my spring schedule on Friday, so I might get them again.) A few of the classes were not so much fun, but the ones that were enthusiastic made up for it, in my opinion. The drudgery part was teaching a slight variation of the same lesson 11 times because all of my classes only met every other week... An actual weekly class would be a nice change of pace. |

I have that.
My students are awesome. 100% on the ball.
I'll miss them when I leave China in summer.. |

I've read through these posts on this thread and must say there's some fantastic tips and ideas for teaching in them. Ideas likely not found in textbooks.
Well done and a must-read thread for newbie FT's, IMSO. |

I got my schedule, and it says that while I have most of my classes every other week, I have one class that I see every week, with much higher levels and a smaller class size! That made my week.
By the way, has anyone here had a class that's three 45-minute periods long instead of just two? My weekly class is. They're going abroad in the fall, and I guess it's supposed to be relatively intensive. |
