| That's a little scary. All I've read about eikaiwa has been doom and gloom. It's making me think pretty hard about whether or not I actually want to do it. |

I'd still say do it, I've worked in a corporate eikaiwa part time before and although I would want to ever do it again, it wasn't that bad. You'll have a lot of fun with the other young teachers and unless you've got a face like like a dog licking urine off a nettle, you'll get a lot of female attention. If you don't go crazy, you'll also have enough to travel a little in Japan and perhaps have a holiday somewhere in South East Asia.
Just don't expect to learn Japanese that quickly while working in an Eikaiwa. Most of the eikaiwa teachers I know have pretty disgraceful Japabese unless try studied before coming or had experience working somewhere else beforehand. |

I see. Well, one of my majors in college was Japanese, but I've gotten pretty rusty since then. I already understood (from what I'd read) that AEON is English only, but I didn't realize the working hours were so long.
Anyway, before I derail my own thread again, I've taken HLJHLJ's advice to heart and thought of a new activity. I found some sports themed party favors locally, and I figured I could keep the whole shopkeep/customer dynamic intact, but change it to two friends who are talking about what sports they play, using the party favors as props/prompts. |

| At A2 they should be able to have a (fairly limited) exchange about sports. You might want to focus on play (e.g. soccer), go (e.g. swimming), do (e.g. karate) for your lesson aim. (If so, you will probably need a vocab sheet to go with it). They should already know 'like / don't like', so that combined with the new language would give them a sufficient range of structures. |
