Perhaps you haven't received any responses on "the deal" with Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) because 1) the majority of posters on this forum teach in a university environment and not in the oil industry; and 2) unless you're referring to the technical/scientific jobs listed, there are no current instructional opportunities on ADCO's recruitment page to even offer an inkling about "the deal" for teachers. However, ADCO's site does have a link to 'Life in ADCO' which might be useful to you. Anyway, it seems your best bet is to apply to find out what "the deal" is. |

I tried a search and there were no links but this thread. That suggests to me that they hire few TEFLers... and those they do are happy?

If you have general info about teaching at ADCO, it would be more helpful to others if you post on the forum. |

A couple of yearrs ago the salary was around 21 000 AED. Housing allowance is paid direct to the landlord. Enough for a decent apartment in the centre of town or even a villa out in the sticks.
Stange rotation. 5 days in the desrt with 3 days in town. In reality with weekends and keeping the trainees happy it works as 5/2 alternating 4/3.
Hours are around 7 - 3. Travel days count as working days. So in 5 days you travel on the first and start work around 11 and on the last leave after a late lunch around 2. Travel by coach can take anything from 2 - 4 hrs depending on the location. There are numerous pick uppoints so you can prettty much choose your location.
good gig if you can swing it. Good luck |

Sounds an interesting option... how are the students?
How many of you are doing this? Is it small or is it that you are all so content that you don't need to come here and moan?

There are vacancies for field based teachers. Rotation: 5/2 and 4/3. Suitable for males due to lack of facilities in field for females. Salary: around 20,000 and accommodation on top. Paid holidays - roughly 36 weekdays. Requirements: BA/MA + CELTA/DELTA+5 yrs relevant experience (teaching adults, ESP, Gulf experience).

Usually ADCO recruits through agencies who deal with the oil and gas industries. English language teachers are usually recruited through a referral system as there have been few vacancies until recently. I suggest sending CVs to HR directly
