there is no summer work at PNU as the place closes and the students are not the slightest bit interested in studying during term time, far less summer.
If you are direct hire, you just have to clear off for the summer, even if you start your contract in May, for example.
If you are not direct hire, your agent willl farm you out to some other hallowed institution for summer |

Which was what I've been stating on another thread. Contracting companies take a percentage of the employee's earnings, so they want their "investment" (teachers) to work and not sit around during those summer months. |

Worst case scenario, they will tell you to take unpaid leave for the summer. This may appeal to some people. My old company, Al Khaleej told many instructors to get lost for the summer. A lot of people weren't happy to say the least, especially teachers from Syria. Imagine, you get to spend a month with no pay in the Magic Kingdom on a salary that is nowhere near as high as the native speaker's. Luckily for me, I had work to do over the summer. I stayed only because I was leaving the country in the summer anyway and I wanted to save as much as possible. |
