Looking to ship out of KSA and find work in the UAE. The pay cut sounds inevitable but what about finding work? Does anyone work in a halfway decent place that is full time without an MA / DELTA?

| You might try AMIDEAST or the British Council for possible opportunities. But if you're referring to teaching in the university system, then no, anything less than a relevant MA won't make the cut. I knew someone who was hired by HCT Fujairah with only a BA and CELTA. I suppose he knew someone with considerable wasta to get him hired. However, he was later transferred to Abu Dhabi and had to teach the navy guys (one of HCT's 'projects') and was given a one-bedroom apartment which is unusual for HCT.
Having said all of that, I would recommend you get the DELTA and an MA or at least an MA. Or go to Oman...Nizwa U?  |

Are there many who get the DELTA on top of a related masters (i.e. education/linguisitics/ect)?
I considered it but thought that one might make the other more or less redundant. |

| DELTA is very hands-on and practical, and can be a useful addition to a more theoretical MA. I know a number of teachers who have both; it's a plus to many employers that a candidate has proven interest and qualifications in both theory and practice. |

As I recall, you have an MEd-TESL, so the addition of the CELTA would be sufficient for the Gulf if your degree program didn't include a practical component. |

In my experience, TEFLers tend to enrol for an MA after their DELTA.
In the UAE, a few who came with only an MA opt to do the extensive DELTA through HCT once they've settled. Interestingly enough...not only language teachers. Fortunately, the trainers are excellent.
From what I know, and have seen and heard, it is soon going to be very difficult to get hired without an MA. Foundations HCT teachers with only a BA and the DELTA have been told to start working on a related masters if they would like to stay on after 2016.
Naturally, everything can change tomorrow... And, most likely, has already!  |

does the HCT give instructors doing the DELTA a lighter teaching load in order to complete it, and do they offer a salary increase for the successful completion of it?

Not likely for both questions. A related MA is a requirement, whereas the Delta isn't. |

What HCT used to do for teachers completing a CELTA was to allow them to use their current classes to complete the practical part of the course. The trainers would come to the college and meet with the teachers working on the cert. They still taught full course loads and paid the normal fees. But, HCT certainly supported the teachers. The CELTA trainer was a spouse of one of the administrators. I suspect that the DELTA is the same and they probably even have trainers in the faculty these days.

As far as Abu Dhabi goes, you suspect wrong.
They haven't run a DELTA there for donkey's years.
Not sure what location pikgitina is talking about. At HCT AD the DELTA has sadly become a sort of charming relic. |

I'm referring to Abu Dhabi and MZ/Ruwais. The trainers I speak of are involved in various capacities at all of those locations, are faculty, and sometimes run sessions in Fujairah, too.
ttxor1, HCT offers/used to offer a 4% increase on completion of an MA. Nothing is offered once the DELTA or a PhD is completed. |
