|
|
Hello,
I have a client who is preparing to study at an English Intensive Training program in the US. She would like to practice her oral English skills for her interview. When I asked her what she would like to practice, such as questions or topics they may inquire about, she wasn't able to give me any information. I then told her to ask her teacher for more information, but she told me the teacher wasn't familiar with the process or what was covered in the interview. Can anyone throw me some ideas as to what might be expected from her in this type of interview, so I can better equip her with the confidence and speaking skills to pass the interview?
Cheers,
Aaron |

Pending more knowledgeable replies from others, I'd take a look at the IELTS and TOEFL practice sites that are online and use their oral examples. |

That's a good idea. I will download the Ielts & Toefl speaking practice q&a topics.
Thanks,

She is probably going to be assessed rather than 'interviewed'; maybe they have a minimum level for entry to this kind of course, so they could ask her questions about studying and everyday life, and possibly ask her to 'talk on a topic' for a minute or more , a la part II in IELTS. |

Yes, I've downloaded the practice Q&A from both Ielts and Toefl speaking sections for her to practice with. I've also found a book 'Compelling Conversations', which covers everyday topics, which contains a topic and numerous questions I can ask her. She will then provide different answers. I think this will help her to be creative and use different vocabulary and express herself more.
Cheers,
