I have taught in Central and Western Europe for over 15 years.
'Comfortable income' depends on one's definition. I'm ok by my standards. University, occasional business courses. No. |

I have taught in Asia, the Middle East (which doesn't seem to be in your options in the poll), and the US for over 15 years. I've been in my current location about 2 years. I teach at a university.
As spiral said, 'comfortable' is a relative term. However, I have always been able to live (what I consider) comfortably (i.e., able to pay rent, have a car, eat out once a week or so, not worry too much about how much I spend, and able to save some). There's nowhere I have wanted to work but wasn't able to. |

That's a great example of relativity. Having a car isn't a part of my personal definition of 'comfortable,' though if I wanted one I could afford it. |

I teach in Mexico.
I've been here for 15 years.
I work in a university.
I live comfortably, I own a house and a car both are paid off.
The last question is no, I sometimes get wonderlust that I don't act on, but visa issues or experience are not the things holding me here. |

Not really answering your questions, but I've always thought of Mexico as a place where education still goes a really long way in helping you get a leg up. While my house and car are mine, paid for with my money, with three kids I'm not sure I'd continue make it without my husband's income, which in the past two years has increased dramatically because he finished his PhD.
You might want to pm naturegirl as you're posts are giving me all sorts of deja vu about her posts many years ago. |

Well, I am content with the country, but am leaving Berlin (was here 3 yrs, 2 of which I searched for work), so I don't have to scrape together work here.
I'm off to greener pastures (i.e. a new job with more hours) and hope to actually be able to save a bit and even go to the occasional museum or other such activity. I'll be content to pay my bills and use public transportation. That would be a good quality of life for me.
I do intend to stay in Germany and settle into teaching here. I think it's hard to get into the industry here, as it takes some time and lots of savings, but perhaps that is just my experience. |

I've got the grass is always greener syndrome. Honestly I probably would have moved on a while ago if it weren't for my daughter. Oh well. I'm making the most of it. The longer you stay the more opps there are. I've got a couple of noN TEFL earning jobs and enough free time to justify staying put for now. |

Because we would know that Asis, North America, South America, Oceania, Europe and Africa are not countries as the poll states so clearly couldn't answer.... |
