So, I want to know where something is coming from, as it may affect a decision I am trying to make. I am being asked by my employer to create "filler" on my CV to make my teaching experience add up to 6 years. If my CV doesn't match expectations....

Anyway, is this 6 years experience requirement coming from the government? Also, what are the potential ramifications of this - is this common practice or what?

Dear until further notice,

So, they're asking you, in effect, to lie. Is your "employer" a recruiter / contractor or a Saudi institution?

The former, perhaps?

Regards,
John

Hi John,

I understand that. To answer your question, the latter. My concern is if this is a government requirement...that would be quite serious. If it is not, does it or could it have similarly serious ramifications?

Since they also normally require "letters of employment" for all years worked, I don't see what lying on your CV gets you... but a shady employer.

An employer can require as many years experience as they want, but I don't see this as a government requirement as few ads request that number.

I must say that I wouldn't even consider working for these people. They have already proven that they are dishonest and unscrupulous.

And guess who would solely bear the brunt of the consequences if found out: That would be you. Anyway, it seems you've already answered your own question given your ambivalence about perpetuating this deception. By the way, I suspect this "request" is from an HR rep/inside recruiter and not from the person at the top who signs off on job offers.

Nomad Soul-

You're right. I have the answer I need; I am not ambivalent anymore. I work for a contractor and this is, as far as I know, coming all the way through the ranks.

Then this request wasn't directly from the government entity as you previously stated because this isn't a direct-hire situation.
