I was told when I first arrive in Japan, I need to go to city or town hall to either register or get something. What is this exactly? I honestly can't remember. If it's the residency card, don't I start that in the airport?
Basically, I'm trying to work out my flight schedule and don't know if this is something I can bother with after my training period (a week) or if it's important I get it ASAP. I have a big feeling they won't be open on weekends but if I'm wrong, someone tell me cause that'll make things a lot easier.
Life would be easier if the plan tickets closer to my training period weren't a lot cheaper. I'd also ask my employer but this is something I'm wanting to know before tonight if possible. |

You used to have to go to the city hall to get your alien card, but now it's done at the airport, so you don't have to worry about that. You will still need to register at your city hall for your residence record / juminhyo but you have a couple of weeks to do it. |
