Not true at all. Did you read my post? I specifically mentioned things that I liked about China that most people dislike.
And I can think of plenty of things that would be considered universally positive: good salary, low hours, low stress, low cost of living, etc. |

Kind of proves what I said....I think u misunderstood.... all who come to china find the same challenges...and the negatives are something all people share.. but the positives relate to your personal experience...

While this may be true in your case (personal) it is certainly not universal thorough out China.... |

How does it prove what you said? You said the negatives are universal, and I specifically pointed out instances where they were not universal...

What I meant was that these conditions would be a universally positive aspect of any job in China (or anywhere period), not necessarily that everybody in China has a job like this. |

That's great. But you're not the only one on the site looking for answers.
The vast majority of people *don't* enjoy being on the receiving end of dirty air, dangerous driving, scams, or job insecurity (and guess what? you won't later either) and want a more realistic assessment of what life is like on the ground than just a "Yeah everything about China is awesome!!!". Some people are asking questions about what life is like to come here with various medical conditions, with children, potential costly visa problems etc. Answers which you might describe with your year of experience as "negativity" are what most of those with hundreds of years of collective China experience would describe as realistic Chinese experiences and solutions.
Discouraging people from talking about real, everyday issues and problems simply because you don't find them "positive" enough isn't helpful one single iota in my book. |

I may end up taking some time off and study full-time at a Chinese university in a place of my choice for a year.
Studying abroad for a year is a completely different experience from teaching in China. I am thinking that if I get to study Chinese full-time five days a week from 8 to noon or whatever, and then have the rest of the day to do whatever I want, I am thinking that I will love every second of that too and other things simply won't bother me.
It's a very different story when one is teachin' in the Middle Kingdom.

I did that this year... er... except I worked... but only 10 hrs per week .. so no big commitment .. and yeah it was fun.. after class... satellite Russian girls are flocking to study here in China as they can get help and scholarships from the gov....and they like Americans..... so you would be in like Flynn....after noons are cozy with calligraphy as a cunning ling.... |

Bad news travels 10 times as quickly as good news, people like complaining! It's nice to hear some good news. ..
I went back home to England last month and realised how hard it will be to leave China. I'm more than just happy~ Im settled here, despite the occasional bad day! |
