| If it really doesn't matter, why don't you just say your degree is in psych? Oh that right it DOES matter. That's why you are willing to fraudulently represent your qualifications. Taking ten classes (your number) towards the field your working in is a lot. |
It matters to them. In reality, it makes absolutely no difference. Sorry to have to break that to you. Am I more qualified to do a psych related job than some education major? On paper, since everyone loves paper, yes. In reality...Absolutely not. |

I'm not really sure why no one else has said this, but it seems to me the best course is just to get your university to fix the error and present yourself as a psych grad. Psych is as good as any of them really want, I would think. Especially given that you've already experience? If not feasible, then just say psychology and have the wherewithal, honestly, and good demeanor to convince any prospective employer of your value.
Disclosure: Not in China. Just accepted a university position. BA in Sociology... |

| In answer to your original question, sometimes. My previous employers, a private language school, would regularly contact peoples universities, usually via their website, to confirm their qualification. |

O.K. thanks to everyone that gave a real answer and it was just a basic inquiry- I have not actually portrayed myself to be an education major up until now and I won't be looking for a job for quite some time. Although I honestly can't say that I won't do it in the future. I really don't know.
If the system is broken, I have no problem with people working it in their favor. That's on the system (schools), not the person that is trying to better their lives. |
