Job offer in Shuilin. 67K. Public school.

Tooooo rural and boring? Ok place? What do you think?

Any gyms? Good internet? Food? Dating?

You may be able to save, however as you say it could be boring. Perhaps any eslers in taiwan can confirm or deny?

Personally, I want to avoid rural areas, don't like the big spiders.

Didn't think about spiders.

People on Forumosa said avoid that area like the plague haha.

That is definitely rural, but it's not like being in the middle of North Dakota. You're a couple-hour train ride away from a major city north or south.

Did your public school gig require a teaching cert?

finally, someone has the *beep* to ask a question which NEEDS to be asked.

Either way, I think I will forget Taiwan if this is the nature of expats over there based on these boards. Privacy and hoodwinking seems to be the order of the day on those taiwan islands, perhaps to protect their own cushy lives and high pay?! Who knows Rolling Eyes Crying or Very sad Embarassed ?!?!

Many job ads require them, but it seems like they let a lot of people in sans a teacher license because the pay isn't stellar. Quite livable, but not stellar. The government seems to pushing toward a NET/EPIK-style program, but they don't want to pay the salaries those programs are paying.

Net as in hong kong?

Pay must go up, I am getting tired of the whole Taiwan, China insert asian country here is so cheap argument.
