Read some earlier posts about working in Ukraine and wondered as from today if Ukraine is a safe bet for work after all the fighting that is going on? From the news channels it looks like the whole country is one big war zone. Is there anyone on here who is working there now and can tell me if its worth a teacher going there? |

Simply not a moment in history to think of one's personal career/prospects in Ukraine. And my Ukrainian students would be the first to tell you so. My god. |

For the record have no intention of going there - signed up for St Petersburg last month. Curious to hear other peoples opinions about the situation, especially those already there. Some posters from January until May talked about going and I wanted to see any contrast or exaggeration with the news.

English language teaching/learning is simply not a priority in the Ukraine at the moment for very obvious reasons, and your questions regarding work prospects come across as extremely self-centred.
No, it is certainly not a 'safe bet' nor is it 'worth' a teacher going there at the moment.

Roy, First, be assured, that the whole country is not a war zone. Even so, coming here to teach now would probably not be the best choice. The elections are in a couple of days and what will happen after that is an unknown. Teachers (that I know) who are already here are staying. It's true that enrollment is down and some schools in the East have shut their doors, but there are still many people who have all the same reasons to study English. |

I know several who are leaving or have already left because of the situation. |
