'The students wrote their exam yesterday.'

In the real world they took or sat, or even just plain had, their exam. While this is a forgivable slip for non-native teachers, or learners, it drives me over the edge to hear so-called teachers ape this nonsense. Crazy!!

HAHAHAHA. If we allowed students to write their exams, testing would be pretty useless. This is clearly the job of an instructor - or institution!

Especially when combined with 'The teachers corrected the exam papers.' No, they marked, or graded, the papers but I've never corrected one. What would be the point?

Even then, I'd prefer to use 'proof-read'. To avoid confusion, hic!

These are papers that the students have already sat! I should hope corrections and proof-reading would have happened beforehand. Mind you some of the papers I've seen in Oman.... not to mention the answer keys!
