I have been offered a job and signed a contract. The visa is not applied for yet. However, I have been asked to interview for a job that pays much better and the company has a better reputation. Can I accept the job if it is offered, even if I have signed on with someone else? I really would like to switch if possible. |

Yes sure. Just make sure to handle the renege of original offer professionally by coming up with an excuse like, due to family issues....
As long as the two companies don't compare notes...no harm done. |

Thanks for that. I really don't like to renege on a work contract but this new opportunity just came in and it looks really good. |

I hope they haven't got your visa process under way otherwise things can be tricky, especially if they have applied for a visa block number under your passport. Like BajalaJaula said, be professional with the previous company and tell them why you are not taking up the contract, especially if they are looking to kickstart the visa process on your behalf. |

Thanks cultofpersonality. The company I have accepted the offer with has forwarded a fedex package my way. I am not sure what is in it and I don't expect to get it until tomorrow afternoon. My interview with the better company is early tomorrow morning. Should I tell the new company that I have accepted, or should I wait and see how the chips fall? I really like the salary for the new company and don't want to miss out if I can get the job. |

A few points:
- Don't inform company #2 that you already have another offer unless you have very solid qualifications.
- Definitely research company #2; whatever money they offer may not be worth it if their reputation rates high on the "crap-o-meter."
- Keep in the mind the salary range advertised on company #2's job posting may not be what you'll get offered.
- If the salary from company #2 is good, be sure the benefits are equally decent. In other words, don't just focus on the money.
- While you await a potential written offer from company #2 (which could take some time), company #1 will have expected you to have moved forward with the visa process. |

you can still juggle between offers even if the visa process already began. last year i got three offers, all three places applied and received my visa block number but in the end i picked one and everything was ok. |

eslteacher2014 how did you go about reneging on the contracts you didn't take up. What 'excuse' did you give? |

Intitally I got 2 offers. I pursued both. Then at the 11th hour a third school offered me a job. Which I took.
All 3 places got the "visa block number" ect approved in ksa. However I just processed the visa for the last job. After my passport was stamped I politely declined the offers.
At no point did I have any problems.
I get the impression that your kafeel officially gets ownership of you after you land and get your passport stamped.
THEN IT'S TOO LATE |

What if you have a visa from one company? If it expires, is it still difficult to get another with a different company/university? |

There is no "if" it expires; all Saudi visas have an expiration date. The employment/work visa is essentially an initial entry visa for the purpose of employment and is good for 90 days from date of issuance with the expectation the employer will have obtained an iqama for the employee before the visa expires. Once the employee has his/her iqama, it serves as both a residence and work permit, and the only visas needed from that point on will be those for exiting/reentering the country. By contrast, those who come to KSA on a business/work visit visa will find themselves deported if they're still in country when their visa expires. And that's if they're not kicked out for illegal employment first.
So if your question is actually about changing jobs during your probationary period (before the employment visa expires), be aware you'll be required to exit KSA back to your home country in order to apply for work with another employer. Ditto if you've been issued an employment visa and have been sitting in your home country letting it expire; you'll have to start the process again with a new employer. Be aware that your med exam and lab tests will have to be retaken since they too have an expiration date of 90 days. |

I'm fielding a few interviews/ offers at the moment. Is it possible to have your degree attested with the paperwork from one company, renege the offer, and then go on to apply for the visa with another? |

Hold off until you've decided on which company to go with because your degree gets attested at the same time the rest of your visa application documents are processed. In other words, your degree documentation is part of the visa application packet. |
