I live in a Big city and just need to find a part time job this year. I'm burned out with the full time teaching jobs and I don't want to go back to a University.
I'm thinking about working for one of the famous English training centers like EF, Astin, Hess, ETC. for the next year.
I want to work as few hours as possible and no spit shifts. Money not a big concern at this point. Good ready made lessons would be nice.

Unfortunately, without knowing the city it's an impossible question to answer.
What I mean is that of the 'famous training centres' are franchises, so one location will be different to another.
Best thing would be to check out word on the street where you are. Or, even visit them in person, see what they say. |

I think a generic test rather than a name test works best.
As Shroob has alluded, company-owned outlets are probably better than franchise-owned ones. |

The branch of World in my town (Wuxi) has a horrendous rep for nickel and diming, mythical deductions and mandatory additional crap.
Not saying you're telling porky pies or anything, just that it's hard to generalize about these franchises I guess. What's gold in one town is garbage in another.
The whole lot, Aston, WEB, World, DDD, EF, Meten etc. seem to make up 80% of these blacklists.
"Shane" in my 'hood doesn't get too bad reviews if you don't mind the kiddies. Low hours (18...?) and only a couple of office hours. Again in other towns they, as the scholars say "sucketh uber ass"
Most Wall Street branches have a part time option of 21 hours + 4 or so office hours. Decent pay for the hours, but you've gotta wear a suit.  |

| Yea I guess so ! I know teachers in a few of the centers around around Taizhou and there is a positive feeling from the teachers ! Few of the teachers have hung around for a few years so guess thats the best recommendation I can give ! |

That is scary. Those are well over full time. Trebek, you may find it very difficult to find a work visa while working part-time... even if their definition of part time is what was considered over-time just a few years ago. Few to none of the schools are willing to negotiate with foreigners. Do you really want to work full time without a visa and the benefits? |
