I have been told that I need a police certificate, but it takes absolutely ages to get it here. I have one from last December - will it be accepted? |

Your post is extremely vague.
You need a cert of no criminal record from your home country? Have you lived in China since last Dec and not returned to your home country? If so, you could not have committed a crime there. You could point that out to X...
If you mean something else then please try to be more specific |

I'm sorry, I was panicking! I am in my home country now. I haven't been to China since 2012, but am hoping to return in September or October. I have a background check dated December 2012. If I apply for another now, it may take 2 months, and the FAO says they need it asap. I am wondering if a 7 month old one will do. |

Ok, thanks that is better and I guess that Dec 2012 is 2013?
Where is the school? City, province?
Who exactly is the check for?
Or what is it for? FEC/RP? Or because the school is anxious?
Are you certain they need a criminal background check and not a letter from you promising you have committed no crime?
Answers to the above may help other posters to give you a useful reply. I honestly have no idea though.
Also:
Does the background check state how long it is valid for? In case they are valid for e.g. 6 months like health checks in China.
Have you tried asking the school what you are asking us? They might know... |

Oh yes, Dec 2013. It's for the RP. The school wants it, and a med, before they even apply for the invitation letter. Anyway, I've asked the school and will let you know the outcome! God, between this and a few other setbacks earlier, trying to get to China is turning into a rather large pain! |

Probably, but check with your school. My background check from 2012 was accepted by SAFEA. I applied at many schools this summer and they all said that a background check from 2012 would be fine. |
