So in the Oxford comma sentence. you'd be saying that your parents are your dog and cat?
If so, one can only hope the female parent is the cat. Otherwise, you'd be an S.O.B.

Christopher Walken's one of my favorite actors. Quite a range: villains to screwball comedies.
Yup, in the first sentence, "my dog and my cat" is an appositive.
