Oh yeah, My own favourite.
The French farming community in the visited in '76 and returned to every year for many years who welcomed me and accepted me and over the years grew to be very good friends.
The Costa Ricans who never seemed to be worried about anything more important than the six o'clock rush to the bar to avoid the rain.

Sri Lanka is without a doubt the most hospitable country I have ever been to. The reason I left-to catch a plane. Would I go back? I'd love to.

i spent some time in haiti, very hospitable to foreigners and would give the shirt off their back, literally, as it's usually the only possession they have. the city was kind of scary but in the countryside it's nothing but friendly people.

i remember coming to a little 1 room straw hut and the people trying to give me their supply of peanuts.

Bulgaria. My wife and I were caught in a thunderstorm while hitchhiking in the mntns. A nice couple picked us up, took us in to their house, fed us and even gave us their bed to sleep in while they took the guest room. They were poor, expected nothing in return and wouldn't take a dime either. We were treated like kings and their kindness will never be forgotten. Would love to go back and visit them again. They were in a little town called Stob.

I have a soft spot for Burma. I know it's one of the least PC places on the planet, but I found it to be a very special place.

5 days. Left because I had an appointment in India.
Someday, I hope, maybe after my kid's older. I'd like to go study there, or maybe just volunteer at a monastery.

I would have to say that some of the most fantastic, caring, hospitable people I have spent time with have been the Nicaraguans.

They are definitely the type of people that will give you their shirts off their backs. And if they don't have a shirt, they will find one to give you.

I did not spend much time there, but I plan on returning in December to see more of the country.

Yep,
I was there shortly after the revolution and before things got back or were starting to get back to normal and was remarkably well treated. not so my two traveller friends who were arrested on visa charges and disappeared from sight for two weeks until by chance i found them in a villa (prison) out in the countryside. Once found, soon out...
otherwise a great people full of interest and educated in the important things in life. The militia put me up in their barracks, I hitchhiked with the Police, and was only overcharged once in over a month there, and this was in a touristy area.

I've only worked in China so that kind of limits things however I'm now in Germany and it sucks...

Who were the most tolerant people you ever met?

The Chinese without question, however the French are real funny (Hey Oli?)

Spain, everyone likes the Spanish...

Spain? Coupla years. China? A year? Germany? Not much longer if I can help it...

I love going out, having dinner and getting drunk on less that a quid in Panzhuang! Joe can back me up on this one....!
