Received an email today from the College asking if they could have access to the websites that I created for courses XXXX and XXXX. Yes, of course you can, here's the address I responded. Thank you, can you train Dr. XXXX in how to use and develop the sites? We also need some help with BlackBoard for him so he can train the new teachers this year! He's arriving next week. No problem, I responded but as I no longer work for you how are you going to pay me? My consultancy rate is 500 OMR per day + travelling costs, minimum of three days work and payable in advance, I tell them. They haven't responded yet..... |

Apparently, Dr. So-n-so doesn't have the appropriate qualifications for the position. I'm curious as to how the college came up with the idea that you would train him. Were they thinking of hiring you back, or did they actually "forget" you were no longer under contract with them? |

Don't know but it isn't going to happen unless they pay...., and I've no interest in being hired by them again. |

Have you hit the end date of your contract? Are you on "summer leave"? Do you have all your pay-off before departure? Could be a gray area...
I assume that poor interviewing has left them with a new hire who doesn't actually have the skills...

I'm on leave, I've been paid and I'm out of the country. I asked for an exit interview but was ignored. I gave the full two months notice and told the management on multiple occasions that they needed a handover to whoever would take over my role but was ignored. All of the teachers who attended my e-learning sessions have also quit and left Oman so nobody to pick it up. Let them deal with it themselves is my current mood. I've given them read only access to the websites because I don't want them modifying them incompetently when my name is there as the webmaster. If they want me to update them, then fine I'll do it from Spain but only if they pay the commercial rate. |

I agree; you gave them opportunities to address the handover. It was lousy pre-planning and decision making on their part and is now someone else's problem to deal with. Khalas! |

My mobile buzzed and the money had been paid, half an hour later my bank account was empty and I had Euros instead of rials! A quick trip to the Emirates office on the way back from the money exchange resulted in a changed flight departure from the end of the month to the following morning. A quick call to the PRO brought him to the airport to cancel the visa and take the residence card. Done!
"Let them figure it out!!!!!' Not a cat in hell's chance, anyway I'm not giving them the passwords so they can screw it up. The new guy can start from scratch... as I did and the guy before me...... |
