Easy to avoid as long as one isn't sharing body fluids with strangers...

Agreed. There seems to be some hysteria simmering that Ebola can be transferred by air, but there's no evidence yet that airborne transmission can occur.

Is not sneezing sharing bodily fluids by means of aerosol transmission?

Is not "spitting" at someone they dislike not something that Saudis regularly engage in?

I'd say, considering the way they conduct themselves, Ebola in Saudi is a significant threat!

Dhahran doesn't have the excessive numbers of bearded ones that Riyadh has.

Association has nothing to do with it.

I only was spat at (unsuccessfully) once, but be assured, during the 90's there was such an influx of bedu that the "genteel" Saudi was overwhelmed with their "hike up the thobe" hillbilly types...

Well, the concept of "personal space" in Saudi is different from many "Western lands." Many Saudis like to get "up close and personal" when talking with you, much closer than Westerners usually do. And, especially with a language that tends to use gutturals a lot, it's not so terribly uncommon to get "sprayed" a bit.

Regards,
John

Hi John,

I'm not sure if you replied to me. I still would like to assure you it's more than spray.

Regards,

Baaa

Dear baa_baa,

Oh, I'm not disputing your being spat upon - I just wanted to list another instance of possible contagion. Very Happy

John

I would consider a classroom full of coughing, sneezing students as sharing bodily fluids.

Somehow I don't see these countries being high on the "too visit" for the Saudis.

Don't worry London, Paris, Geneva.
