Has anyone heard of this education business, Sendelta Education? It seems to be specific to hiring for schools in Shenzhen and Guangzhou separate from CITA, but I could not find anything about this place, just like the other group I asked about in a previous post. Has anyone done business with Sendelta or even have anecdotal information about how it is? Thanks. |

I wrote about this company a few weeks back.
I interviewed with them and passed. I was told I was hired.... never heard from them... I emailed them... wait, wait... again... and they were advertising. So i thought I was out. Then suddenly they send a contract. But I had given up by this time.
Nice bunch but I think they just provide teachers. Chance for OT there. |

Thanks Hatcher. They asked me to present a 20 minute demo lesson vía Skype. Well, it's good to hear your story and at least a couple of positives about them. |

I had a face-to-face interview with them here in Guangzhou that included a short demonstration. They are out in the boonies, next to last stop at the southwest end of line 1 (Kengkou, not so far from Foshan), a 1-hour commute each way for me. Via email after the interview they offered me a job teaching four 40-minute classes a week on American Culture to two senior 1 classes (two classes each week to each group) at 200 per class. I wanted 1,200 per half day with all four classes on the same day either all in the morning or all in the afternoon. I insist on half-day pay for something like this because otherwise you will go out there one day and discover that the principal is giving a speech that morning and they cancel one or two of your classes and you don't get paid for them. They were okay with the half-day pay and having all the classes on one morning or afternoon, but they wouldn't come up over 1,000 yuan and wanted grades, tests, homework every week, for 50 to 60 students altogether. Would have been too much work for not enough money in my view, and we failed to agree. When I mentioned the travel time, not to say I expected to be paid for it, but mentioned it in the context of how many hours of work they were expecting for not enough money and on top of this I would have a significant commute, they answered: "The travel time is up to you. Not because of us prelong [prolong?] your travel time. If you would live near our school, then there were no travel time, right?" Yeah right. I'll move to Kengkou for a half-day a week job and commute the other six and a half days. They have run a couple more ads on echinacities; all look to be extremely part-time. Otherwise the place looked okay. Huge high school (Guangzhou Experimental School), modern, woman who interviewed me was sharp enough. Sendelta has contracted with the high school to provide training for subject matter designed in particular to get the students into American colleges. This is becoming common in the better high schools here, contracting with outsiders to provide teaching for this sort of subject-matter. |

Twice Skype interviews have been set up for me to give a math lesson and twice the interviewers were "no show". Actually, the second time they said the woman was on vacation and knew nothing about an interview. The first time they did not bother to check with the person or they would have realized he was previously engaged. How normal is this ? |

I think this standard procedure for this company. Not only are they unprofessional, but the pay is very low. |
