I'm in Thailand & am pressed for time. My Thai visa will expire before the Chinese consulate gets my invitation letter processed, so Hong Kong would be faster.
Does their visa section process the invitation letter now? |

No. You've been misinformed. Having been to China before I'm surprised you don't know how this works. |

They will only process the letter if it says on the letter to do it in HK. Even then, they could refuse. You might consider using an agent back home to process it. It would involve shipping your passport, so a little risky. |

the HK immigration site says:
If you don't reside or work in Hong Kong permanently, you are required to apply Chinese visa from the Embassy or Consulate-General of Peoples' Republic of China in your resident country.
But they've said that for years & it wasn't true. I think what's left is getting a new Thai visa in Lao or paying the Thai over charge daily until the Z visa can be legally done in the embassy here in Thailand.
Many thanks, Cube |
