By the way Karachi University does exist and has produced very good teachers: English, Engineering, Medicine, Law, etc.....
It's because the country is so messed up that teachers with Phd's will lower themselves to taking this atrocious salary because the exchange to a Rupee is very good! |

Hi Scott47. Honestly, I don't know. I can't remember. I do know it was in the southern part of the country in some provincial area. They were training younger students, males, post high school, keeping them from joining extremist organizations by providing them an education (this is how it was made out to sound in the interview.). The man who interviewed me was from the Philippines, and I had the sense that he was out to screw applicants. Maybe my radar was up too high but when he offered that salary, I couldn't believe it, going by the hours described, and the photographs of the apartment. It looked smaller than what you would find in Japan. Why do native speakers take these positions? Especially if they have such advanced qualifications?
