Hello. I am in South Africa at the moment but I am American.
I want to know if it is possible to apply for Saudi from South Africa?
I don't want to apply from home unless I absolutely must.
I have my original university degree with me and a criminal background check, but I noticed that you must have a health check before you go.
Thanks in advance |

If you are a legal resident of South Africa you can. I just went through this in the UK. Your passport needs to show that you are a resident. Make sure your university is fully aware of your residency in South Africa, or they may mistakenly send your visa block to the States. |

You can certainly apply for Saudi jobs regardless of your current location. However, even if you're a legal resident of that country, your employer may still require you to return to your passport country regardless. Therefore, you definitely need to bring this up during interviews.
Keep in mind, your US degree will need to be authenticated by the SACM in the US (degrees with online coursework are not accepted), and your criminal background report must be no older than six months at the time of your visa application. |

It all depends on the employer. Some will be flexible. Some will not. |

As Nomad Soul mentioned, it is important your employer knows where you are legally residing. You can also check with visa agents in South Africa. They can advise you on the course of action required by the consolate in SA. They seem to differ from country to country. SACM in the States will most definately need to attest your diplomas. |

Consolate? Love it, 'Don't worry it will all be ok....' Much better than the (lack of) service from the Consulates! |

In my case, the Saudi embassy in Senegal required that I bring in my original diploma. Other than that, I just paid a higher fee to the local agency because I was American. I had a business visit visa during my probationary period. |
