Hi Everyone,

I was wondering where things are starting up in the international world. I.e. what are the hot spots that are heating up.

At this point, it's not necessarily the money but finding new cultural opportunities that maybe I won't get in Korea, Saudi, etc.

So, are places like islands off of Spain, Maldives, Cambodia, Vietnam, or anywhere else good?

Thanks

If you are qualified (meet the E2 requirements) then Vietnam can be as good as or better than Korea in terms of financials. It is another cultural experience.

Cambodia has opportunities but not a well developed EFL infrastructure. There is a lot of "flying by the seat of your pants".
The same can be said of Laos.
Myanmar is starting to open up but has its own cans of worms to deal with.

The different regions of China also offer varied opportunities.

Turkey doesn't seem to pay particularly well, but it must be an interesting place to spend a year or two. You'll have to do your own research to keep abreast of the current political and economic situations.

I could say the same about Mexico, however, I think the economy there is as good as it has ever been since Montezuma lived and thrived.

They've stopped the human sacrifices. Sad A letdown to be sure, but still a culturally interesting land, and easily accessible if you are American or Canadian. Mexicans are the benchmark in terms of good, salt of the earth people. They have always been my favorite.

(Turks are real nice too)

Spain is difficult bordering on impossible if you haven't got an EU passport.

It's here and doing! And it ain't going to go away. However, I think our friend ebooktrial0001 wants something farther afield after Korea.

Mexico has some reasons to be on this list and some not.

Certainly demand to learn English is going up. More and more young people are enrolling in higher education and English is deemed necessary for that.
The people, food, arts and crafts, and culture in general are interesting and unique.

The drawbacks, immigration and labor reforms. Its now easier to stay long term in Mexico, but the initial work visa process is more complicated. And labor laws and practices are making it easier for employers to legally screw workers ( not that they didn't do it illegally before) so we will see more adjunct type positions in the future.

This is just a brainstorm, but the next Olympics will be in Brazil. I wonder if that will influence people learning English as they prepare for this international event. Just a thought.
