Hey, I'm just wondering about this 20% tax deduction. Is it for real, or is there a way around it?
20% is a large chunk out of the pocket. I NEEDS TO MAKE MONEY!!!
Would an employer overlook this if I asked them to, or is there some way I can avoid this? What kind of trouble could I get into if I didn't pay it? |

If you are legal you get to pay, deducted from your salary. If you're illegal you don't. |

Like all things in Taiwan taxes are even negotiable. The tax department doesn't care so long as the paperwork looks good. If there is a discrepency you will have some trouble but the tax office usually takes it up with your boss.
Good luck. |

The boss, not wanting lose money, will in turn take it up with you, at which point you can either cough up or leave the country / county / area for good losing your last few weeks pay. |
