Well when I registered here I was still in the homeland and I don't intend to stay in Russia forever.

As for go and come, let 'em figure it out.

Hey, maybe the McSchools aren't that bad after all!

A job is being advertised at the moment on a famous tefl jobs website. Based in St Petersburg, teaching 30 ac. hours per week. No accommodation and no discernible benefits (well they claim the visa is a benefit).

The salary, a whopping 30k per month. I wonder if they'll be overwhelmed with candidates....
(For anyone wanting to go to SPb, an acceptable studio in a suburb will cost a minimum of 20k. Sharing can be done for around 12/13k+. So have fun partying and meeting Russian gals!)

I had always contemplated heading up to SPB if Moscow bored me. Looks like I'll be staying put.

what happened to that taylor family guy, did he move on?

seems strange he kept job hopping across different countries. from Hong kong to Saudi and now wants to go to China and Russia. with a family too.

In other news the ruble has crashed so hard it may not be worth it to stick around in Russia at all.

There's still plenty of hard cash to be made here. Market corrections etc are nothing to be worried about. Business as usual.

Come to Russia!

I stopped looking at the rates, it just made me a sad panda. Basically, by the end of the year we'll be working at a rate of $1 per hour.

Of course, if you plan to stay put in Moscow and never leave, it wont make any difference. But if you plan on travelling abroad for a holiday, it's just going to kill your wallet.

I spent 2 months travelling during the summer. If the ruble continues to die, next summer I'll be able to travel for only a weekend on the same money.

Soon foreign currency will be illegal once more. As it should be. And then these piggie value exchanges will be rendered meaningless and you'll all be much better off and happier to boot!

Ura!!!

January 1st, the ruble floats. It collapses. Hyperinflation follows. A loaf of bread costs 5000rub. Expats start to dig into their savings to escape, but many cannot afford a flight out. Massive discontent. People take to the streets. Clashes with the police. Obama looks on with glee. The oligarchs rise up. A coup d'etat occurs and much like 1993 the tanks roll through the streets. ESL in Moscow collapses. Remaining teachers starve to death.

I, on the other hand, being unable to afford an air ticket, will walk back to my homeland, crossing the entirety of Europe. I'll then write a novel about my struggle. I may well call it 'My Struggle', although I don't know how well such a book like that would do in European countries such as Germany.
