16,000 net is way too low unless your housing is being paid for. An easy calculation is this ---> Most schools pay around 190 low end - 280 high end for 45 minutes of teaching. I suggest teachers working up to 30 x 45 minutes of teaching per week. So 120 (teaching) hours per month x 190 - 280 =22800 33600 gross. If you work on a Zivno you'll pay social tax of a bit less than 2000 CZK a month.

Instead of posting the salary, it's better to post your hours. It will give me a better sense of what the school is paying for the work put in.

Cheers,

Even outside the centre, or in a small town, rents for a single-occupancy flat will start around 8,000 monthly. 16,000 is very low. You'd absolutely have to have other work, I think.

That is a tight budget. You can get a place in one of the popular areas in Prague for like 5000-6000 czk everything included but you will be sharing a room with someone and most likely have two more people living with you.

I paid just over 6000czk living with two other people. i also had one place where I was paying 2500czk but I was sharing a room and it was a walk thru to get to one of the other rooms. In total I had 6 roommates in that place with no common room. I was living there this past spring/summer.

It is doable but you won't be living alone or having your own bedroom. If you wanted your own room but having a roommate then you are looking at around 8000-10000czk.

Cheers,

That sounds slightly tight, I'd err on the side of caution!

It is potentially survivable but what will you do if you want flights home or something?

I'd try and find something better paying if I were you.

I get 28 thousand a month with a managable schedule and I am OUTSIDE of the capital so I'd reassess whether this is worth it or look for other schools.

Lots of places are recruiting for September Smile

'Exitance?' I guess at 16,000 a fairly swift exit would be likely...

It would be possible to survive on that if you were a naturally really frugal, especially if you came with some money to set youself up with(you might need pots and pans or a coffee maker or whatever at first.)

But I'd recommend more. Note: if your housing is paid for, this is pretty good.
