No, that's not me. I don' know if it's his board or another, but there are other similarly named posters who utilize "rooster" and teach/taught in Japan. |
I believe that was Rooster_2006. |

Funny that this question was posted, because today Sophia University announced summer session positions. The classes start in June and Finish mid July. Just a one month contract.
I rarely ever see summer session classes advertised in Japan. I see them advertised once in a while for Niigata International University. |

| Can't imagine anyone employer would want to mess with the visa/overseas interview for a short term summer camp/class gig. Plenty of folks already in Japan to choose from. If you want to come to Japan, hey just come and be a tourist. I doubt you'd find enough summer work for more than beer money anyways. |

Yeah, I know. And did you see what they are asking for? They want applicants to send in a DVD of them teaching an intermediate class, a list of publications, etc.
For a one month summer session position! You'd think that they were screening for a permanent, tenured job.

I feel you on this! Saw a post on GP awhile back for a once-a-week, two hour class on Saturday (and special holiday parties like Halloween and Christmas). The list of requirements was astounding. In addition to an interview and a trial lesson (separate days), prepared materials, and no text (all materials to be created by the instructor), no transport was to be paid, though it paid about ¥5,000 for the two hours. Imagining the travel time, materials cost, lesson prep, etc, made me cringe just a bit. That's IF one passed the interview and the initial trial lesson, after which the hiring decision would be made. In short, ¥20,000 gross pay per month to give up a portion of each Saturday and do special holiday parties. Started to make a P/T job anywhere else look good! |
